Ed Mikenas

Ed Mickenas will demonstrate theories of leadership, drumming and quantum physics and show us how drumming training can be integrated into human resources development. Mikenas has performed with Skitch Henderson, Esther Phillips, Mundell Lowe, Sonny Fortune, Herb Ellis, Frank Foster, Mercedez Ellington, Chip McNeill, and Martha and the Vandellas (to name a few). He is Co-founder of CLUB CONGA, a Percussive arts ensemble that promotes the development of talent and artistic potential through participation in hand-drumming cultural events and is Creator and Presenter of DRUMS: NOT DRUGS, a Substance Abuse Alternative Treatment Milieu and DRUMMING ON THE EDGE OF LEADERSHIP CLINICS AND WORKSHOPS and serves as Editor and co-founder of SIRENS, a literary magazine from the Manhattan School of Music, NYC
Objectives –

This workshop will:
• Provide participants with an overview that demonstrates a connection between the building blocks of the Quantum Universe to the primacy of sound in the physiology of human development, and the importance of rhythm in the organization of consciousness.
• Acquaint participants with the culture of hand drums and other percussion from around the world.
• Facilitate activities that demonstrate the formation of order out of chaos from the underlying resources of the group’s collective consciousness.
• Provide opportunities for participants to process their insights regarding this material in relation to the workplace and their lives in everyday situations.
