This semester, students from the E&I elective course "1 to 1 Prototyping for Spatial Design” has made a sailing boat, a rotating sphere and some cast limps.
The objective of this course is to introduce students to think and design by making. During the course, 4 groups of students were confronted with different questions:
1. Sailing Boat: How to build the boat in the workshop of SD?
2. Rotating Structure: How to design through making?
3. Sphere: How to build sphere in different material and using different techniques?
4. Cast limps: How to cast creatively?
The exhibition shows the collective works by the students, they are reassembled on the 10th floor of the School of Design. The scale seems slightly over size, the structure seems bit dangerous, and the setting seems out of context.
We have been dreaming of sailing around the world,
so we make a sailing boat,
a rotating globe,
and cast few pairs of hands.
