Neil Poulton is a Scottish-born product designer, based in Paris, France. He specialises in the design of “deceptively simple looking, mass-produced objects”. He is best known for technology designs like the iconic “Rugged” hard drive for LaCie which has sold over 4 million units, and for lighting, notably for his many “best-seller” lamps for the Italian company, Artemide.
Neil Poulton first came to public view in 1989 as the creator of the "ageing pens," pens made from a "living" (wearing) plastic, which changes colour and form with use.
In 2007, the Centre Georges Pompidou museum in Paris acquired six Poulton-designed objects for its permanent contemporary collection.
