EMMI: The Holy Grail for Business Innovation?

PolyU will be launching the Executive Master in Meaningful Innovation* in September 2015. To mark the launch, the 1st public session “Meaningful Innovation Forum & Networking – The Holy Grail for Business Innovation?” was held on 25 November 2014 at the Jockey Club Innovation Tower. The speakers were Professor Cees de Bont, Dean and Swire Chair Professor of Design, School of Design, PolyU and Prof. Yesha Sivan, Executive Director, Coller Institute of Venture at Tel Aviv University.

Prof. Cees de Bont introduced the Executive Master programme and teaching team at the beginning of the event. In his address, he introduced thought leadership across discipline that inspired him, and shared design approaches that generate meaningful solutions for business. He also shared successful stories on how Design Thinking approaches can generate value for organisations and end-users and the reason why design should be regarded as one of the key disciplines in innovation.


Prof. Yesha Sivan shared his insights on IT’s unique role in innovation and introduced six innovation platforms in which IT can play significant part in leading businesses. The platforms include ‘Process innovation platforms’, ‘Generative innovation platforms’, ‘Analytic innovation platforms’, ‘Ready-made innovation platforms’, ‘Technological innovation platforms’ and ‘Build-your-own innovation platforms’.
