PolyPlay Lab presents War & Toys: Photography & Toy Design

The exhibition showcases undergraduate PolyU Toy Design student proposals for warzone children afflicted with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), alongside photographer Brian McCarty’s work relating the stories of the boys and girls who have survived. Leveraging play, designs are intended to positively influence and shape play patterns of children traumatized by war, with a view to counteract negative feelings, lead to insight, promote solace, foster resilience, regenerate emotional literacy, and lead to healing. PolyPlay Lab Leader Rémi Leclerc and Fulbright Photography Specialist Brian McCarty facilitated students’ creative development during a weeklong creative toy design workshop, with input from Expressive Therapists Myra Saad (Artichoke Studio, Beirut), and Chloe Martin and Lillian Yuan (The Justice Centre, Hong Kong).
