Information Session - Master of Design (September 2017 entry)

THE WORLD WE live in changes at a rapid pace. The Age of Tech has brought disruptions to traditional businesses and industries. In a brief period of ten years (2006-2016), the world’s most valuable public companies are dominated by companies in the digital economy.

The age of urbanisation, accelerating technological change, challenges of an ageing world, greater global connection are four global forces breaking all the trends – identified by McKinsey – as No Ordinary Disruption.

Businesses and societies urgently call for new skill-set, thinking, and perspective in design practice, management and leadership. Forthcoming opportunities lie in the evolution of design as a discipline, and correspondingly the role of designers.

and especially at Master’s level, we define design, in its broader sense, as processes designers use for problem-solving. We put "people first" in the people/technology equation. Specific strategies/ research methods are taught and could be applied to design-led business development and designed experience.

The School offers international programmes for the new generation of designers adding value in the changing economies. Through its new space and facilities in the Jockey Club Innovation Tower – including Material Resource Centre, various modelling workshops, sound design facilities, exhibition space and lecture theatre – the purpose is to inspire and support student learning.

Our international and interdisciplinary faculty prepares students to take charge of their future learning and development in fast changing environments. As a result, our graduates have been successful in broadening their professional fields, making change in their organisation or entering the bustling start-up world.

looking for part-time study which you can apply what you learn in the classroom the next day in the business world, or a one-year programme which makes your sabbatical plan possible, our five specialisms in flexible modes of study would cater different professional development needs.
