Design Education takes one year (three consecutive semesters) in full-time mode, or two years in part-time mode. Subjects are taught in lecture and seminar modes; some studio courses may be taken as electives. A practicum and research report on the experience is offered in the final semester. The site for the practicum may be in the participant’s home university, or designated partner schools such as KISD, Cologne in Germany, or in a School of Design subject, and the practicum takes place under the guidance of a master teacher. The expectation is that the student is committed to the programme and takes full advantage of the residency opportunity and stays in contact with their advisor during the practicum experience. The programme concludes with a research report that synthesizes course material, practicum experience and reflection. Graduation requires the successful completion of 34 credits.
