The Master of Design (Design Education) is directed to those with professional experience in design, both with and without tertiary teaching experience. Doing design and teaching design, while complementary, are not the same. Design is changing from a craft to a discipline requiring more analytical skill (what to design), use of new tools (how to design), and knowledge of design in context (why to design). These changes in design require new approaches to teaching and learning with regard to what to teach and how to teach. Those without teaching background will discover the structures that support learning and those with teaching experience will discover best practices to support their teaching.
