SDAA Outstanding Graduate 2007 Award Presentation

Congratulations to Kwok Wai Man, Nicole of the Environmental and Interior discipline, who stands out from the crowd, and is awarded SDAA 2007 Outstanding Graduate. Also to Yu Cheuk Lam, Himmy from the discipline of Industrial and Product, the recipient of the Freeman Lau SDAA Scholarship, and Yiu Yu Hoi of Visual Communication, the recipient of the Alex Fung SDAA Scholarship for the most outstanding VC graduate. Three other nominees are awarded Judges' Awards including Chen Chiao Ying of Visual Communication, Wong Shun Cheong and Li Wan Hoi of Industrial and Product Design.

Each one of them will receive a life membership of SDAA valued $1,000, and will be expected to contribute in helping to organize forthcoming SDAA activities. Nicole, Himmy and Yiu Yu Hoi will each receive cash prize of $5,000 under the respective scholarships.

An interview was conducted with a panel comprised of the Chairman of SDAA, Ms Grace Lau, Vice-Chairman, Mr Samuel Yau, and one of the EC members, Mr TK Sin on 5 June 2007 in SD. Nominees were asked to present their work, and to talk about their views on the qualities of an outstanding graduate of SD, which is rated one of the Best Design Schools in the World by BusinessWeek. Nicole impressed the panel by her presentation skills and maturity in handling concepts and execution shown through her final project designing a place for promoting Chinese Opera, while Hoi of Visual Communication was definitely a design talent who had a heart and vision, agreed amongst the panel members.

The presentation of award took place at the Opening Ceremony of the School of Design Annual Show 2007 on 15 June 2007 at 2:30pm on the Podium of Core A. Please join us to congratulate all of them and SDAA would like to wish all of you the very best in your career life.
