Michael Siu won Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund to start sustainable design project

A project promoting environmental sustainability and protection is one of 60 proposals that have been selected from more than 1000 for the Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF), which is hosted annually by the U.S. State Department’s International Exchange Alumni global online community. Led by Prof. Michael SIU from PolyU Design and PolyU Research Group for Sustainable Public Design, the winning project will encourage young people to participate in sustainable design, especially for densely populated cities such as Hong Kong.

To promote household waste-recycling, young people will be invited to participate in designing recycling facilities for their home. Besides practical project outputs like designs, exhibitions, and a website advocating sustainability, the project also aims to generate academic research outcomes.

Congratulations to Prof. Siu, whose project is the only winning proposal from Hong Kong.
