ID&BM Students Showcase Initiatives for a Green Campus

The Green Exhibitions (located at Podium of FJ Wing) of PolyU Campus Sustainability Weeks 2014 showcase six sustainability projects by postgraduate students of MDes International Design and Business Management (ID&BM) from now until 4 April. All are welcome!

Students took on a challenge posed by PolyU’s Health, Safety and Environment Office (HSEO): to develop a product and/or service which would discourage the use of disposable food containers and packaging, and to foster a “Bring-Your-Own” (BYO) culture among students, faculties and visitors on campus. This is to address the plastic waste problem arises from the high demand of takeaways services as the canteens are usually overcrowded during peak hours.

These projects are concluding integrated projects for three essential subjects (Business theories and concepts, Design theories and concepts, and integration of Technologies in design and business innovation) led by Prof Howard Davies (Faculty of Business), Mr Benny Leong and Dr Clifford Choy (School of Design) respectively.

ID&BM is a new Master's programme offered by PolyU School of Design. Launched in September 2013, this 1-year full-time programme attracted an international mix of students across design, business and technology fields. It aims to nurture all-rounded "T-shaped" leaders who function in design-sensitive and technologically intensive business environments, cross-pollinate among business units in order to stay innovative and competitive.
