Fred Han's Adaptive Hydrotherapy Wetsuit awarded at 43rd International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva

Congratulations to Mr Fred Han, Assistant Professor of PolyU Design who won a Silver Medal from the 43rd International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva!

The award was brought by a collaborative research project titled Adaptive Hydrotherapy Wetsuit with Dr. Kristina Shin of Institute of Textiles and Clothing, for people with limited mobility in particular paraplegic patients and the elderly. With its self-operating feature, only half of the physiotherapists previously required are needed for hydrotherapy. The current buoyant unit lacks flexibility and has poor contact with the patient in water. The Wetsuit improves stability and safety for the users and enhances rehabilitation experience.
