Design students display their creative works

The School of Design (SD) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is staging the Design Graduation Show 2005 on its campus up till 28 June. The event showcases over a hundred creative works from graduating Bachelor’s degree students in various design disciplines.

Themed “Open & Closer”, the show was kicked off last week. This large-scale exhibition features innovative projects from students of the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Design programme, specializing in different streams including Environmental Design, Industrial/Product Design and Visual Communication Design.

A highlight of the show was the presentation of the GSL Design Awards 2005 by Mr Samson Tam, Chairman of the awards sponsor, Group Sense (International) Limited. One of the winners is a final year student in Industrial Design stream, Mr Joe Chan, who won the award with his creative design “MyClaws-multimedia dictionary for kids”.

The exhibition is free and open to members of the public. Details are as follows:

PolyU is the first and the leading provider of professional design education in Hong Kong. For more than four decades, the School of Design has groomed celebrated designers contributing to various industries in Hong Kong and the international community, including fashion designer Ms Vivienne Tam, Mr Raman Hui, animation specialist of the Oscar-winning movie Shrek, and Mr Yip Kam-tim, who won another Oscar for Art Direction for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
