About the Research
Head is considered as one of the prime structure of the body as it houses the major sensory organs. In past researchers have used conventional measurement technique to acquire simple measurable head and face data. However, with advent of 3D scanning techniques it is possible to develop better 3D models of human head and face. Some of the methods include, using scanned point cloud data, using Principal Component Analysis etc. Soft tissue deformation is also an important parameter, which needs to be considered while designing a product. Various studies have been carried out in past, to understand soft tissue interaction occurring due to effects of pressure on various parts of the body. Hence, the need of the hour is development of a 3D head and face models which takes into account head shape variance and the soft tissue.
